Conservation at Rhiedorrach Estate
A Thriving Ecosystem
The estate is home to a rich and diverse range of flora and fauna, supporting a variety of native and migratory species. Visitors may encounter:
Native wildlife: Red Roe & Fallow deer, mountain hares, otters
Birdlife: Red & Black Grouse, ptarmigan, Golden Eagles, Peregrine Falcons and short-eared owls
Seasonal visitors: A range of migrating birds that thrive in the estate’s protected habitats.
Through dedicated conservation efforts, we aim to preserve and support these species while maintaining a healthy and biodiverse landscape. Including curlew, oystercatchers, Golden Plover, Dotterel and lapwings

Sustainable Land Management
Rhiedorrach Estate is a proud participant in the Agri-Environment Climate Scheme (AECS), which promotes sustainable land management practices that:
Native wildlife: Red deer, mountain hares, otters, and short-eared owls
Birdlife: Grouse, ptarmigan, curlew, oystercatchers, and lapwing
Seasonal visitors: A range of migrating birds that thrive in the estate’s protected habitats
In line with this initiative, we have introduced wader scrapes on our farmland, creating vital wetland habitats that provide food and refuge for breeding wading birds such as curlew, oystercatchers, and lapwing.

Commitment to Best Practices
Rhiedorrach Estate is actively working towards Level Two Accreditation with Wild Estates Scotland, a recognition of our ongoing commitment to:
