Overview

This picturesque walk begins at the Auchallater Car Park, located just south of Braemar. The route follows a well-defined track that runs parallel to the Callater Burn, leading into the serene Glen Callater. As you progress, the path offers captivating views of cascading waters and the rugged beauty of the glen. Approximately halfway, you'll cross a bridge over the burn, with vistas extending back towards Ben Avon, distinguished by its granite tors. Continuing onward, the trail arrives at Callater Loch Lodge and the adjacent Callater Stable, a bothy maintained for walkers. From here, a path skirts the northern shore of Loch Callater, a high-altitude loch cradled by imposing mountains, providing a peaceful spot to pause and absorb the natural splendor. The return journey retraces the same route, offering a different perspective of the glen's landscapes.
