Overview
The Loch Muick Circular Walk is a 12.5 km (7.75-mile) loop that follows the shores of Loch Muick, one of the most scenic lochs in the Cairngorms National Park. Set within the Balmoral Estate, the trail offers spectacular mountain views, peaceful waterside paths, and glimpses of local wildlife such as red deer and golden eagles.
Along the route, you’ll pass the Glas-allt Shiel house, a historic hunting lodge built by Queen Victoria, where an optional detour leads to stunning waterfalls. The terrain is mostly level, making it an accessible but rewarding walk for all abilities.
